Composite tools, also known as "soft tooling", are more easily constructed than metal tools such as Invar or Aluminum, because they are made from the same composite materials as the parts being produced. Composite tooling can be a cost effective solution and make larger volumes parts affordable. Parts made on composite tools can be cured in an autoclave, oven, or by integral heating.
